Ah, our final day of skiing in Salt Lake City! We met up with Traves (pictured below!) and Keely, new friends of friends who I met about a month ago at Winter Park in Colorado. I feel like it’s so common to meet someone, realize you’ll both be in the same place in the future, and exclaim, “oh we should totally meet up!” and yet the meetup never happens. It felt good to buck the trend and actually meet up with Traves and Keely, who are awesome peeps.

Still some nice soft snow!
We skiied at Brighton ski resort today, and towards the end of the day Jason and I decided to split off and do our own thing for the last few runs. I really had an adventure streak, and somehow skiied into the neighboring resort, Solitude. I radioed Jason, “hey, I think I skied to Solitude”, and he laughed and agreed to pick me up later from that resort. I can’t say that I’ve ever done that before!
From two previous days of skiing such deep powder, our legs were completely cooked, maybe even burnt. The tracked-out runs at Brighton were a welcome respite, and we felt completely satisfied with this being our last day of skiing in Salt Lake. Craving a beer (I don’t think we’ve had any beer since Las Vegas), we stopped by a cool brewery and laughed at Utah’s strange rules. All of the beer on tap maxes out at 5% ABV, but they also sell canned beer which doesn’t need to abide by the 5% restriction. Personally, 5% ABV is just fine for me, but I can agree that it seems pointless to limit draft beer to 5% if you’re also going to sell higher ABV in the same location. Anyhoo, we enjoyed a nice game of cribbage, and celebrated our final day in Salt Lake. Tomorrow we leave Salt Lake for Moab - the final leg of our journey. We will spend the remaining 5 or so days rock climbing in Moab, Indian Creek, and maybe Fruita. Maybe we will go to Canyonlands! The beauty of the van is having complete freedom with our itinerary, a luxury neither of us take for granted. Finally, we want to extend a huge thanks to Fiona and Shelby in Salt Lake for helping us out with water, sleeping spots, and a sink to wash dishes in!!!
